New and improved

With an increasing number of people using the studio for voice recordings of various types, we decided it was time to invest in a new microphone, especially suited to the job. We’ve also got some new speaker stands to make the Genelec monitors sound exponentially better.

Podcast voice recording during Edinburgh Festival

During the Edinburgh Festival 2015, The Noisefloor helped several Fringe artists record their voices. Australian assisted suicide advocate Philip Nitschke was interviewed by fellow countryman Andrew Denton, while Craig Leggo (another Aussie!) and his partner recorded several episodes of their upcoming comedy podcast.

From beer cellar to music studio

The Nosiefloor started off life as a disused beer cellar. 3 months later it was a soundproofed, sonically treated music studio full of pro-level gear. This blog post briefly outlines the final steps in the building process, including details of the bespoke ventilation system our acoustics and DIY expert designed!

In the latest of our regular features about the building of the studio, we look at the unexpected difficulties we had when soundproofing the roof of the studio, as well as hanging the door and filling the newly built walls with loft insulation as part of the sonic treatment.

Welcome to The Noisefloor!

The Noisefloor is (or will be) a brand new, professionally equipped, DIY sound facility in the heart of Edinburgh. In the first of a series of blogs detailing the building of the studio we look at the inception of the idea, the hunt for an adequate space and the initial thoughts as to how best to tackle the project.
